Medicine Ball Abdominal Rotations on Physioball

Summary:

  • Perform 2 sets of 8-12 reps per side
  • Once again, slow steady motion is beneficial to building balance as well as strength

Lesson Description:

To start the Abdominal Rotations, position your torso horizontally across the physioball with your shoulders and neck on center of ball.  Grasping the medicine ball extend straight arms straight up above the chest.   From this position, rotate the arms down and across at a 45 degree angle between your head and side (similar to a chopping motion used with an axe).  The lower torso should remain in the original straight position.  You should feel a stretching of the obliques of your abdomen on the side opposite the movement.   Hold for a second and raise arms back to the starting position before rotating to the opposite side.  Repeat the back and forth motion for a total of 8-12 reps per side.
